Putting Families First Forum | Bernie Sanders – 844-292-1318 legal aid Dothan Alabama

In Des Moines, Iowa, Bernie Sanders hosted the Putting Families First Forum. “There is something profoundly wrong in this country, when the middle class continues to disappear, when people work longer hours for lower wages, when we have the highest rate of childhood poverty of any major country, and at the same time, almost all new income and wealth is going to the top 1%. Together we’re going to change that.”

★ About Bernie:
Bernie Sanders is a Democratic candidate for President of the United States. He is serving his second term in the U.S. Senate after winning re-election in 2012 with 71 percent of the vote. Sanders previously served as mayor of Vermont’s largest city for eight years before defeating an incumbent Republican to be the sole congressperson for the state in the U.S. House of Representatives. He lives in Burlington, Vermont with his wife Jane and has four children and seven grandchildren.

Bernard “Bernie” Sanders was born in Brooklyn, New York, to immigrant parents and grew up in a small, rent-controlled apartment. His father came to the United States from Poland at the age of 17 without much money or a formal education. While attending the University of Chicago, a 20-year-old Sanders led students in a multi-week sit-in to oppose segregation in off-campus housing owned by the university as a Congress of Racial Equality (CORE) officer. In August of 1963, Sanders took an overnight bus as an organizer for the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee to hear Martin Luther King Jr.’s historic “I Have a Dream” speech firsthand at the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom.

After graduation, Bernie moved to Vermont where he worked as a carpenter and documentary filmmaker. In 1981, he was elected as mayor of Burlington as an Independent by a mere 10 votes, shocking the city’s political establishment by defeating a six-term, local machine mayor. In 1983, Bernie was re-elected by a 21 point margin with a record amount of voter turnout. Under his administration, the city made major strides in affordable housing, progressive taxation, environmental protection, child care, women’s rights, youth programs and the arts. In 1990, Sanders was elected to the House of Representatives as the first Independent in 40 years and joined the Democratic caucus. He was re-elected for eight terms, during which he voted against the deregulation of Wall Street, the Patriot Act, and the invasion of Iraq.

In 2006, Sanders defeated the richest man in Vermont to win a seat in the U.S. Senate as an Independent. Known as a “practical and successful legislator,” Sanders served as chairman of the Committee on Veterans’ Affairs where he authored and passed the most significant veteran health care reform bill in recent history. While in the Senate, Sanders has fought tirelessly for working class Americans against the influence of big money in politics. In 2010, he gave an eight-and-a-half hour filibuster-like speech on the Senate floor in opposition to extending Bush-era tax breaks for the wealthy. In 2015, the Democratic leadership tapped Bernie to serve as the caucus’ ranking member of the Senate Budget Committee.

Known for his consistency on the issues, Senator Sanders has supported the working class, women, communities of color, and the LGBT community throughout his career. He is an advocate for the environment, unions, and immigrants. He voted against Keystone XL, opposes the Trans-Pacific Partnership deal, wants to expand the Voting Rights Act, and pass the Equal Rights Amendment.

US creates terrorist groups to justify wars – 844-292-1318 legal aid Hoover Alabama

The #US is creating #terrorist groups to justify its #wars on foreign lands, an American journalist says.

“It is becoming very obvious…that the US intelligence community is involved in funding #ISIS if you look at the military support that ISIS receives,” #Mike #Harris, an editor at the Veterans Today online journal, told Press TV in an interview on Thursday.

He was commenting on the Pentagon’s admission on Wednesday that ISIL terrorists captured a bundle of US weapons airdropped in the Syrian border town of #Kobani earlier this week.

“The Pentagon confirmation that ISIS recently intercepted a weapons airdrop is very troubling,” Harris said, using an alternative acronym for the terrorist group, which is operating in Syria and Iraq.

“There have been a number of anomalous things, that ISIS has captured a number of ground vehicles that were conveniently prepositioned. All of this gives me the implication that perhaps we have treasonous elements within our government,” he noted.

He went on to say that “terrorists don’t put themselves on the ground for free; it takes money to be able to arm them, to equip them, to get them trained and they have to be paid; where this money coming from.”

According to reports, ISIL terrorists were trained by the #CIA in Jordan in 2012 to destabilize the Syrian government. They now control large parts of Syria and Iraq.

According to the Pentagon, US warplanes have conducted more than 260 airstrikes against ISIL in Iraq since mid-August. Some Western states have also participated in some of the strikes in Iraq.

Since late September, the US and some of its Arab allies — Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, Jordan and the United Arab Emirates — have been carrying out airstrikes against ISIL inside Syria without any authorization from Damascus or a UN mandate.

Harris, of the #Veterans #Today, said, “We had a series of whistleblowers come forward and tell us about the 90,000 bank accounts that have been discovered and detected through the Union Bank of Switzerland, but there has been no action on this.”

“Our own Congress has been notified of this and they’re still taking no action on this. Significant members of armed services got familiar [with it]…and yet they are doing nothing to track down where the martial support for ISIS is coming from. This is embarrassment,” he added.

He stated that this implies treason at “the highest levels within the US government. The implication is that the US is creating terrorism around the world in order to justify military adventurism.”

Climate Change Justice, Contract Law and Theory, Perils of Global Legalism (2011) – 844-292-1318 legal aid Oxford Alabama

Eric Andrew Posner (born December 5, 1965) is Kirkland and Ellis Distinguished Service Professor of Law at the University of Chicago Law School and a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts & Sciences. An editor of The Journal of Legal Studies, he has also published numerous articles and books on issues in international law. He is well known as the co-author of Terror in the Balance and The Executive Unbound.

He is the son of the federal appellate judge Richard Posner.

Posner attended Yale University (B.A., M.A. in philosophy, summa cum laude) and received his law degree from Harvard Law School (J.D., magna cum laude) in 1991. He clerked for Judge Stephen F. Williams of the D.C. Circuit.

A professor at the University of Chicago Law School, Posner is an editor of The Journal of Legal Studies. He has published numerous articles on subjects including international law, cost-benefit analysis, and constitutional law.

He has taught courses in international law, foreign relations law, and game theory and the law.[4] His current research focuses on international law, foreign relations law, and international tribunals.

He has written about the trial of the deposed Iraqi president Saddam Hussein.[5]

In June 2013 Posner and Jameel Jaffer, fellow at the Open Society Foundations, participated in the New York Times’s Room for Debate series. Posner responded to concerns about expanded National Security Agency programs that vacuum information about the private lives of American citizens. Since c. 2005 the N.S.A. has served major telecommunications companies with metadata[notes 1][2] For example Verizon Business Network Services, one of America’s largest telecoms providers, was required to provide “records of millions of US customers” to the NSA.[notes 2][6] He claimed that Americans obtain the services they want by disclosing private information to strangers such as “the market services of doctors, insurance companies, Internet service providers, employers, therapists and the rest, or the nonmarket services of the government like welfare and security.” He argued that, since 2001 there has not been an incident in which the United States government used information “obtained for security purposes with “war-on-terror-related surveillance” technologies to “target a political opponent, dissenter or critic.”

HSBC bank has told three Muslim organisations that they are to have their accounts closed. One of the organisations believes its stance on Gaza may have triggered the move. Another, the Finsbury Park Mosque in North London, says that the move is “islamophobic”. HSBC has not given any specific reason for its actions but says that the organisations fall “outside their risk appetite”. The BBCs’ Dominic Laurie reports.
