This video was filmed to show GM car owners who wish to disable OnStar without impacting vehicle performance or operations other than the features of OnStar. We recorded it without using technical jargon terms; we recorded it just in layman terms.

My personal reasons for disabling OnStar is because I learned it was draining my battery and my car did not start. For info check out my battery replacement video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o_FZS9IUta4

Once OnStar is down, the following will not work:
1.The built-in cellular calling feature
2.The OnStar Blue button to call OnStar for assistance
3.The Emergancy Red-Cross button
4.If Airbag deploys in an accident, OnStar will not be notified and help will not arrive
5.In some vehicles like the Cadillac the voice to navigation feature will not work
6.The monthly emails for Vehicle Diagnostics
7.To have OnStar remotely unlock your doors or locate your vehicle if you forget where you parked
8.Remote listening feature

The process is fully reversible and all the above features can resume working.

Additional info I found in my OnStar terms when I bought the car:

Per Onstar’s Official Terms and Conditions:
THE INFORMATION WE GET FROM YOUR CAR INCLUDES THINGS SUCH AS DATA ABOUT ITS OPERATION, ABOUT YOUR USE OF OnStar SERVICES, ABOUT WHERE YOUR CAR IS JUST BEFORE AND DURING REQUESTS FOR OnStar SERVICE IN YOUR CAR, AND (DEPENDING ON YOUR OnStar Equipment) DATA ABOUT ACCIDENTS INVOLVING YOUR CAR (for example, the direction from which your car was hit).
You agree that we can, subject to applicable law, use any of this information to: (a) provide OnStar services to you or your Car (including sharing that information with roadside assistance providers, emergency service providers, or others, as needed); (b) check or maintain your OnStar Equipment; (c) provide information to the maker of your Car about the Car’s performance and to enable the maker of your Car to comply with law; (d) help you or managers of fleets of Cars (if your Car is part of a fleet) to maintain the Car; (e) evaluate and improve our service; (f) enforce this agreement with you or others; (g) prevent fraud or misuse of OnStar service; (h) comply with legal requirements, valid court orders and exigent circumstances; (i) protect the rights, property, or safety of you or others; (j) offer you new or additional products or services; or (k) perform market research.

In my next video I will show you how to replace OnStar with off the market device () and all the features of OnStar will come back! You will be controlling your vehicle from your cellular phone using text messaging and email:

1.The built-in cellular calling feature will work with off the market device
2.The OnStar Blue button to call OnStar for assistance will start to work except it will call a phone number of your choice
3.The Emergency Red-Cross button will call 911 and auto send your vehicle location without your intervention. All you have to do is press the Emergency Red-Cross button
4.If Airbag deploys in an accident, 911 will be contacted with your vehicle location without your intervention.
5.Receive on demand Vehicle Diagnostics to your email
6.Remotely unlock your doors or locate your vehicle if you forget where you parked right from your cell phone
7.Remote listening feature (spy feature) lets you listen inside your vehicle from your cell phone

The above features will work from your specific cell phone ONLY so it is secure!

Let me know if you have any questions and Off course this video comes without any warranties (ON YOUR OWN RISK!)

Enjoy 😉

  1. can I write-down everything I want to say I just get a lil nervous and forget all the Important information.

  2. I haven't received any mail since I filed for unemployment but they did call me but I missed their call what does that mean?I need more info

  3. This is a breakdown of the case and the outcome if it was a real hearing:

Based on the information presented the claimant was discharge for a third tardy after receiving one written warning. The claimant’s prior warnings she made an attempt to contact the employer to notify them of her being late and presented a valid reason why she was late due to caring for a sick child. Typical tardiness of less than 10 minutes shows that the claimant was making a valid attempt to arrive to work on time as scheduled. The employer chose not to excuse any type of tardiness regardless of the reason.

The final tardiness was also due to reasons outside the claimants control and the claimant showed a legitimate effort to arrive to work on as scheduled and was only a few minutes late again.

The claimant had only received one prior warning which unemployment would view as an isolated incident and it was for a compelling reason. The final tardy was also for a compelling reason. If the claimant had received 3 prior warnings for tardiness that were within the claimants control and was discharged at that time it would result in a finding of misconduct and the claimant would have been disqualified for benefits.

In this case the claimant was not discharged due to reasons of misconduct and the employer did not establish a willing disregard of the employer’s interests and the tardiness was not within the claimant’s control. The claimant would be found qualified for benefits.

  4. WHAT THE HELL? WHERE ARE THE TIPS…I HEARD NOTHING BUT WHAT WAS LIKE A KINDERGARTEN TEACHER SPEAKING TO TWO KID..S IF THOSE WERE THE TIP'S…THEN I'AM GOOD….THANKS FOR NOTHING…OR FOR SHIT I ALREADY KNOW…COME ON…IF I MISSED SOMETHING AND MADE A MISTAKE THEN APOLOGIES…BUT WENT OVER IT TWICE…

  5. Judges really do not want to know how the earth cooled… just answer their questions directly and briefly.  If the judge wants to know anything else he'll ask.  If you need to answer "yes' to a question and want to add some more information answer "of course" instead of "yes" and the judge will allow you to provide some brief additional information.

  6. i have yet to look at mine but according to diagrams i find, the early 2000 model suv was apparently under the dash.

  7. Hi can you help me please if I need to disconnect everything to not be tracked with my miles

  8. Hi I did disconnect the power supply to the box but my impala 2015 LT has 4LTE Do I have to disconnect the antenna too to prevent onStart record my miles and where I am ? I am leading the car I want to prevent then record my miles
    Thank you for your help

  9. hello do you know where the onstar unit is located I the 2012 verano? and is it still true it will not effect the vehicles performance or stop it from working one the unit is removed? I have no experience with cars but I did not see it in the trunk when searching.

  10. So if I do this to my 2001 blazer would I still need to by a different wire harness for my aftermarket radio to work

  11. Just an FYI for the people who do not know any better. Onstar data feeds into a central file about you. The problem with that is about who drives the car. So, while insurance companies are getting this black market data to adjust your premiums, your friends drive fast when they borrow the car. See, cell phones are no different. Yeah, it is your phone but what if your angry boyfriend takes it? Infinity is the world we live in. Onstar is a way to record data and tie it to you. I am removing mine as soon as I am sure of no lockout or theft codes are activated. I have other people that drive my car and I do not want the tracking to affect my government data profile. Oh, and before you "conspiracy" hacks chime in, do me a favor; watch the following first. Watch "Terms & Conditions May Apply." Also, do your research on the Utah Data Center. It is not "if" we are being recorded (including Onstar that is turned off but not physically disconnected.), but it IS how often we are being recorded.

  12. How is this any different than removing the fuse in the interior panel that feeds the onstar device?

  13. my car is stuck in theft mode and dealer ship cant reset my car my car wont let them into reset its saying or reading somthing that dont exsist  so what can i do and how do i do it please please help me
