Legally Blonde: Blood in the Water – 844-292-1318 Indiana legal aid

Blood in the Water from the broadway musical Legally Blonde

CALLAHAN
Now when you choose a law career
The moment you embark
There is that joke you’re bound hear
A lawyer is a shark

Ignore that, it’s simplistic and it’s dumb
Only some of you will turn out sharks, just some
The rest are chum

Our topic is blood in the water
Kids, it’s time you faced
Law school is a waste
Oh yes, unless you acquire a taste for

Blood in the water
Dark and red and raw
You’re nothing until the thrill of the kill
Becomes your only law

(spoken) Mr. . . . Shultz , hypothetical question.
Would you be willing to defend the following banker accused of fraud?

(sung) A kind old grandma took her savings and she sent it
Off to your client, all she saved since she was born
Well he promised to invest it, but he spent it
On prostitutes and heroine and porn

STUDENT
(spoken) No, I would not want to take that case!

CALLAHAN
Wrong! This one is a win unless you’re lazy
Grandma’s broke; she’ll have some hack from legal aid!
Put her on the stand and call her old and crazy
Your guy goes free and he can get you high and laid

Look for the blood in the water
Read your Thomas Hobbs
Only spineless snobs
Will quarrel with the morally dubious jobs

Yes, blood in the water
Your scruples are a flaw

(spoken) Ms. . . . Hupes, hypothetical question.
Would you be the right lawyer for the following client?

(sung) Say they offer you a bundle for defending
A famous hit man for the mafia elite
Seems he missed his chosen prey
Killed a nun and drove away
Running over three cute puppies in the street

STUDENT
(spoken) What, you think I wouldn’t defend him just because he’s a typical man?

CALLAHAN
(spoken) Oh, you lesbians think you’re so tough

STUDENT
(spoken) But–

CALLAHAN
Oh dear, I fear my comment has offended
Hard to argue, though, when you’re too mad to speak
Your employment will be very quickly ended
When they see how your emotions make you weak

So what’s my point? I run a billion dollar law firm!
And I hire four new interns every year
From this class I will select four young sharks whom I respect
And those four will have a guaranteed career
Do you follow me?

So I wanna see . . . What?

STUDENTS
Blood in the water

CALLAHAN
Exactly, let the games begin

STUDENTS
Hm-mm-mm-mm

CALLAHAN
Four of you will win

STUDENTS
Hm-mm-mm-mm-ooh-ooh-ooh

CALLAHAN
But just those four with the dorsal fin
Yes, blood in the water
So fight and scratch and claw

(spoken) Yes, Miss, uh

ELLE
(spoken) Woods, Elle Woods

CALLAHAN
(spoken) Someone’s had their morning coffee.
Would you summarize the case of State of Indiana v. Hurn in your reading?

ELLE
(spoken) Oh, I wanted to answer the puppy question?

CALLAHAN
(spoken) But I’m asking you about the assigned reading.

ELLE
(spoken) Okay, who assigns reading for the first day of class?

CALLAHAN
(spoken) You have guts, Ms. Woods. Ms. . . . Kenzington

(sung) Let’s say you teach a class at Harvard Law School
A position that you’re justly proud about
But a girl on whom you call hasn’t read the case at all
Should you let it go or–

VIVIENNE
(spoken) No! I’d throw her out!

CALLAHAN
All right, then.
You have heard your classmate
You have just been killed
She cut your throat, so grab your coat
Yes, you’ve got guts but

ALL
Now there’s spilled your
Blood in the water

CALLAHAN
So would you please withdraw
And if you return
Be ready to learn
Or is it unfair?
Oh, wait I don’t care!
That’s just how I rule
In life and in school
With fear and shock and gall

CALLAHAN
You’re nothing until

STUDENTS
Blood in the water

CALLAHAN
The thrill of the kill

STUDENTS
Blood in the water

CALLAHAN
Becomes your only law

STUDENTS
Blood in the water

CALLAHAN
Your only law

JDRF is the world’s leading charitable funder of type 1 diabetes research and raise money to drive world class research. We aim to find new ways to treat type 1 diabetes and its complications, prevent type 1 from developing and find the cure for people who already have the condition.

Hope Initiative http://louisvilleky.com/louisville-kys-central-high-school-to-host-king-concert sponsor Type 1 diabetes in children used to be known as juvenile diabetes or insulin-dependent diabetes. If your doctor thinks you have T1D, he will check your blood sugar levels. Many people with T1D lives healthy lives. The key to good health is to keep your blood sugar levels within the range doctor gives you. How is Type 1 Diabetes Different from Type 2 Diabetes? In type 2 diabetes, your body does not use insulin properly. This is called insulin resistance. At first, the beta-cells make extra insulin to make up for it. But, over time your pancreas isn’t able to keep up and can’t make enough insulin to keep your blood glucose levels normal. Type 2 diabetes can be treated with oral medications, and/or insulin. Type 1 diabetes is always treated with insulin. We are JDRF – Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. We won’t stop until we create a world without T1D (type one diabetes). The Health Care and Social Assistance industry includes establishments and services such as:
hospitals, nursing and residential care facilities and out-patient care centres; offices of health practitioners (i.e. dentists, doctors, optometrists and chiropractors); medical and diagnostic laboratories; home health care services; ambulance services; social assistance services (i.e. for children, youth, the elderly, families); community food, housing, emergency and relief services; vocational rehabilitation services; and daycare services Located at the mouth of the Hudson River in southeastern New York state, New York is one of the world’s great cities. It has the largest population of any city in the United States, and it is unrivaled in the diversity of its neighborhoods and their often-colorful residents. New York runs the gamut from great concentrations of wealth, epitomized by luxury apartment buildings and hotels and mammoth corporate headquarters, to the grinding urban poverty of its ethnic and racial ghettos. A major financial and economic center, it is also a cultural mecca that has attracted generations of artists and intellectuals and draws millions of tourists every year. In its 400-year history the city has grown and changed rapidly, repeatedly renewing itself through successive waves of immigration and urban development. As a new century approaches, it remains, perhaps more than anything else, a city on the move. List of Video Credits can be found here http://broadcaster.beazil.net/public/credits/youtube/videos/43403 JDRF is the leading global organization funding type 1 diabetes (T1D) research. JDRF’s goal is to progressively remove the impact of T1D from people’s lives until we achieve a world without T1D. JDRF has led the search for a cure for T1D since our founding in 1970. In those days, people commonly called the disease “juvenile diabetes” because it was frequently diagnosed in, and strongly associated with, young children. Our organization began as the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation. Later, to emphasize exactly how we planned to end the disease, we added a word and became the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.Today, we know an equal number of children and adults are diagnosed every day—approximately 110 people per day.

Good conversation with Smitty on ACCESS News!

Smitty has served as state director of Public Citizen Texas since 1985 and serves on the boards of Clean Water Action, the Texas Wind Power Coalition, Texans for Public Justice, Campaigns for People, the Clean Energy Project of CEERT, a nature preserve, and a solar energy company. He has recently received the Thomas Paine award from Campaigns for People, 2001 Austin Chronicle’s critics choice award for “Best People’s Lobbyist” as well as an U.S. EPA “Environmental Excellence Award.”

Public Citizen is a consumer and environmental group active in issues concerning energy, environment, ethics and campaign finance reforms, trade agreements with Mexico and other countries, and urban sprawl. During his tenure at Public Citizen, Smitty has served on four commissions that looked at the future of the utility industry in Texas and has testified on more that 100 occasions on environmental and energy policy. His proudest accomplishments are: helping to pass laws requiring Texas to develop 2,000 MW of renewable energy; and creating the Texas Emissions Reductions Plan, which reduces emissions from Texas dirtiest diesels, gives incentives for purchasing the cleanest new cars and trucks, requires political subdivisions to reduce their energy use by 25% over the next 5 years and requires all new homes or commercial buildings to meet new tough energy use standards.

Smitty hails from Illinois. He graduated from Valparaiso University in northern Indiana and became a Texan by choice in 1974. Before joining Public Citizen, he worked as a legal aid, as a legislative aide, directed the Houston Foodbank and ran an anti-hunger advocacy program.
