Tracie’s landlord was using what legal aid advocates know as a “self-help eviction,” circumventing the legal process by making her life miserable, turning off utilities and trying to move strangers into the apartment. He hoped Tracie would just give up. Instead, she called the Legal Advice and Referral Center.
