Hacking for Justice: Legal Aid & Tech Collaborations – 844-292-1318 Washington legal aid

Seattle University School of Law hosted the city’s first “Social Justice Hackathon” in November 2015. The Hackathon brought together the tech and legal aid communities to create solutions that would expand access to and improve delivery of legal services.

We talked with the Hackathon’s creator, Miguel Willis, and Aurora Martin, the executive director of Columbia Legal Services, about the Hackathon, its results, and the potential of legal-tech collaborations.

Be sure to read their Clearinghouse article, “Tech Justice: A Conversation About Making Justice More Accessible”:

Personal empowerment starts with ‘daring to ask’. Attorney Cait Clarke, author of “Dare to Ask! The Woman’s Guidebook to Successful Negotiating,” shows that women are actually great negotiators when they remain true to themselves and learn a few techniques. Her approach is spot-on for job and salary negotiations.

This practical webinar will provide you will tips and techniques that will serve you well — in your current position and in the future.

Our presenter, Cait Clarke, is the director Strategic Initiatives at the National Legal Aid & Defender Association in Washington DC. She served as the director of Federal Programs at Equal Justice Works.

Cait has been a legal educator with 25 years of experience teaching law, training, and consulting on the law, policy reform and leadership skills. She served as a principal and the legal education specialist with Watershed Associates a Washington, D.C. — based organization focused on providing negotiations training to business and government agencies worldwide. She is the co-author of “Dare to Ask! The Women’s Guidebook to Successful Negotiating.” And, she was the founding director of the National Defender Leadership Institute at the National Legal Aid & Defender Association (NLADA).

Cait holds degrees from Georgetown University, Catholic University and Villanova University School of Business, as well as a doctoral degree from Harvard.
